Antler & Takefu Yu-Shoku Mokume clad Laminate steel

My 19 year old son has been working in my workshop on and off since he could use tools. We are now at the stage where he can design and make his own style and brand of knives. This is the stunning result.

The Antler handle is made with a full mortice tang that has a hard copper pin locating the 74mm blade against the hammered copper/black/ red fibre bolster. The blade is from Takefu Yu-Shoku Mokume clad Laminate steel otherwise known as rainbow damascus hardened to 60 hrc at the core.

It has a sabre flat grind and a secondary bevel that shows off the colourful layers of copper, brass, nickel and wrought iron surrounding the high carbon steel core in a San Mai style.

Overall length is 157mm and the knife is presented in an oiled and waxed, oak bark tanned neck carry pouch.
