The C19 Alpine Shirt is named as such as a direct result of the global pandemic that has driven us in new directions. We have had to explore new sources of natural fabrics here in The UK as we have experienced unprecedented delays due to wool shortages on the fabric we use on our popular Guide and Forester shirts. We needed to keep our staff busy and our customers happy so we'll always strive to find a way forward.
We have found this luxurious Loden cloth available ex stock from one of our suppliers and couldn't resist making a new garment just to suit. Unlike European Loden, ours is 100% wool and is in the traditional Alpine Green colour with the trademark flecks of pale wool.
As it is slightly heavier ( 385gsm) and more densely woven in a different style to our Guide Shirt wool we have found it more suitable as a jacketing layer. Hence we have constructed this smart overshirt or mix up of a jacket and a Shirt. It looks like a shirt but wears like a jacket with its slightly retro look with big pockets and one piece collar.
The Loden fabric's continuing and historical use in the mountains and forests of Bavaria and Austria supports the reputation of Loden Wool as a hard wearing and weather turning cloth.
The way this shirt is built, and we mean built, it is perfectly tough and suitable for hard outdoor use. However we are pleased to sy that it is such a looker that it is equally at home in a more urban environment.
Certainly upon testing by our crew it has become a firm favourite and all the samples were spoken for straight away.
The C19 Alpine features a straight hem, double shoulder yoke, traditional collar to turn up and keep out the wind, two chest pockets and easy to use NATO spec snap fasteners throughout.
Proudly developed and made in Great Britain by us this garment is built to last and be handed down through generations.
