The Journeyman Knife is made from 4mm RWL34 stainless tool. This is a stainless tool steel developed at the DAMASTEEL AB firm in Sweden. It is a powder metallurgy version of ATS-34 that was the steel championed by one of the grandfathers of modern custom knife making Bob Loveless. It's performance is exemplary, especially in the 27 degree scandi grind employed. It is very tough and will hold an edge for a long time. Hardened to 62hrc for best performance.
Speaking of Bob Loveless, the shape of the handle, particularly the way the pommel end returns at an acute angle is a direct homage to the great makers designs.
Each knife is presented in a naturally veg tanned scabbard that is individually hand made for each knife. Fitted in a sleeve in the front of the scabbard is a strikefire firesteel, that when scraped with the back of the blade will give a shower of 3000 degree sparks, enough to start a fire just about anywhere!
So what you have is a complete package of a robust and top quality bushcraft knife and a reliable means to make fire, two things you should always have with you on your expeditions and adventures.
