This Bison Bushcraft Knife is made from Japanese Hi Carbon Rainbow Damascus steel.
This is a new steel for me, but I'm already impressed by it's amazing cutting performance. The colourful layers supporting the inner layer of high carbon steel shine out near the spine and on the bevel. Etched all around the tang you can see the core of the steel and fine lines of colour.
Yu-Shoku is pre-laminated with a V-Toku2 carbon steel core with mokume cladding (forged from copper, brass and stainless steel). DPS (depletion prevention system) adds a thin nickel shim between the core steel and the cladding.
To match the theme of the steel I've used ancient Bog oak scales with fittings that are bronze with liners that I've burnished to give a fake tortoiseshell effect
A 27 degree scandi grind edge and the centre core at 63 hrc should give superior performance.
A distressed and aged dark brown scabbard completes the package
