This new design of Bushcraft Knife is named for the managed woodlands that surround The Bison Bushcraft workshop. Primarily Chestnut with Hazel and Hornbeam boundaries these woodlands are still cut on a multi year cycle providing local produce such as fencing products, charcoal and crafts. They support a whole workforce of woodland folk for whom a knife is still an everyday tool.
Ground from 3mm Aeb-l tool steel. A steel initially developed for razors so it can achieve a very fine edge. It has all the qualities of a stainless tool steel whilst being easy to sharpen. I generally heat treat this steel to 61 hrc.
The blade carries a Scandi grind that is perfect for woodcraft and other outdoor tasks. The 3mm thickness makes is lighter and controllable for finer work. At 100mm the blade is similar in length to the width of the palm of your hand. Often recommended as the perfect utility knife length.
The handle on this knife is stabilised highly figured English Elm Burl from those local woodlands over brick red vulcanised fibre liners held in place by my signature brass pin layout and complementing brass lanyard tube.
Presented in a hand stitched, veg tanned and oiled right hand belt pouch.
